Environmental Policy Statement
Cambridge Newspapers Ltd trading as Iliffe Print Cambridge (“IPC”) recognises the importance of environmental protection and is committed to operating its business responsibly and beyond minimum legal compliance with all environmental regulations, legislation and approved codes of practice relating to print manufacture and any area that the Organisation’s overall business activities encompass.
It is IPC’s objective to operate with and to maintain good relations with all regulatory bodies.
It is IPC’s declared policy to carry out all measures reasonably practicable to facilitate the ability to continually improve environmental performance by:
1. Regularly assessing and recording the environmental effects of IPC’s equipment plant and operations.
2. Adhering to and surpassing all relevant regulations concerning waste and environmental well-being. Ensuring that all sub-contractor operations are in-line with this policy and that they are aware of their respective responsibilities in the environment.
3. Raising awareness of, encouraging participation of and training all employees in environmental issues.
4. Minimise newsprint, plate, ink and all material wastage.
5. Actively promoting the use of recyclable newsprint, plates and renewable materials.
6. Minimising the waste of energy. (Electric, gas, oil, petrol, diesel).
7. Eliminating, reducing and/or limiting the production of pollutants to water, land and air. Disposing of waste under controlled conditions when re-cycling and/or the re-using of the materials is not an available option.
8. Controlling noise emissions from operations.
9. Minimising risk to the general public and employees from IPC operations and activities.
10. Assisting customers to use products in an environmentally-sensitive way.
11. Liaising with, respecting and seeking to act as a good neighbour to the local community which surrounds IPC operations.
12. Participating in discussions about environmental issues.
This policy is communicated to all employees, suppliers and sub-contractors and is made available to the public.
All personnel understand their obligations under this policy statement and abide with the contents of the Environmental Management System Manual.
IPC constantly monitors and reviews its environmental performance and this Environmental Policy Statement in order to ensure its continuing suitability and will implement improvements whenever appropriate. |
